A Community-Based Organization Rooted in Homabay

New Vision Community Based Organization (NVCBO) is a registered Community-Based Organization operating in Homa Bay County, Kenya. Since our founding, we have worked alongside communities to address the interconnected challenges of water and sanitation, gender-based violence, and economic marginalisation.

We believe that lasting change happens when communities are empowered to lead their own development. Our approach combines practical interventions — building water points, facilitating savings groups, training youth — with the deeper work of shifting social norms, building local capacity, and creating systems that endure beyond our direct involvement.

Every programme we run is shaped by the needs and voices of the people we serve. We do not impose solutions; we facilitate them.

Our Vision

A Homabay community where every person has access to clean water, lives free from violence, and has the economic means to build a dignified life.

Our Mission

To empower women, youth, and households in Homabay County through sustainable WASH interventions, gender-based violence response, and economic empowerment programmes that foster self-reliance and resilience.

What Drives Us

Our Core Values

These principles guide every decision we make and every programme we run.

Dignity

We treat every person we serve with respect, honouring their agency and protecting their privacy — especially survivors of violence.

Community-Led

We believe lasting change comes from within. We work alongside local leaders and residents, not above them.

Accountability

We are transparent with our resources and honest about our impact. Every shilling and every hour is directed toward results.

Sustainability

We design programmes that last beyond our involvement — building local capacity, not dependency.

Partnership

We collaborate with government, donors, and peer organisations because complex problems require collective action.

Courage

We address difficult issues — violence, poverty, inequality — with honesty and determination, even when it is hard.
